   SEMA Update

SEMA has issued a press release informing the public that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is aiming to make it illegal to convert automobiles originally designed for on-road use into racecars, even though such conversions have been done for decades.  Under the EPA’s proposed rule, it would also be illegal to sell any performance-related products for those cars.  The EPA’s proposal would have a devastating impact on motorsports since many types of racing rely on production vehicles that have been modified for use strictly at the track.

RISRA Information

Rhode Island Street Rodding Association was formed in 1973 by a small group of dedicated hot rod enthusiasts. Shortly thereafter it evolved to a Charter Club of the National Street Rod Association. NSRA is the largest street rod association in the world. This is our 43rd anniversary which allows us to proudly claim to be the oldest street rod club in Rhode Island.  We are involved in numerous shows throughout the season. Our first show, The Annual Automotive Extravaganza is on Memorial Day, May 30th. This year will mark the 27th year that the event benefits the Johnston Little League. June 127th 2016 marks our crème de la crème of the season with our own Washington County Swap Meet & Car Show. Also in this month, July 27th we will pitch in and give West Warwick Parks Department & Centreville Bank a helping hand at their very successful "Oldies Night". August features Hot Rods and Harleys Haul, for us at the Charlestown Sea Food Festival which is held on August 7th.  The War Veterans Tribute Cruise at the RI Veterans Home is a very successful multi organizational show. We were one of many car clubs that initially launched this great cause and look forwarded to the another annual cruise.  Unfortunately this show is not scheduled 2016, but will be held in 2017.  We have our oldest show, the 41st Annual "Toys for Tots" Fun Run for the Sunday of Columbus Day Weekend Oct 9th .  The Rhode Island Shrine Legion of Honor and RISRA will hold its'  2nd David Cate Annual Car Show details to be announced. Our yearly Christmas Party is available for non-members.  A Poker Run Event is tentatively on the docket and perhaps a Mystery Cruise. We are always actively seeking new members, if you have an interest in street rodding and would like further information either email us or attend a scheduled meeting listed within the events page.  Monthly meetings are held on the second Friday of each month at 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI, all are welcome.
